The Chinchilla Hose Company of South Abington Township particpates in the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Participating Department program. The program is to recognize those organizations that support, promote, and encourage their emergency response personnel to voluntarily certify within the Commonwealth’s Certification Program administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The Department encourages our Firefighters to voluntarily certify within the professional standards programs administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
Currently the Chinchilla Hose Company is recognized for having over 50% of it's active members certified within the professional standards. We are 1 of only 2 Departments in Lackawanna County to be recognized for the 50% participation level.

Established in 1956, the Chinchilla Hose Company has been serving our area for over 50 years. Located on Shady Lane Road in South Abington Township, our main station houses Fire, Rescue and Ambulance services. Station 2-A is located on Fairview Road and houses an engine, brush truck and foam trailer. Responding to over 1,200 fire, rescue and EMS calls per year, our dedicated volunteers work to protect the township and surrounding areas as firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
